What information should I provide a surveyor in order for them to survey my property?

The first question we ask a future client is the purpose of the survey. Are you building a new garage and need a topographical plan showing grades or are you building a fence and only need a few stakes set online? Are you selling and the purchasers are asking for a new boundary survey or is a conservation agency looking to check the floodline to approve the addition to your house? There are several different types of surveys depending on what you’re hoping to achieve so we want to make sure we know what you need so that we don’t have to do more work than is needed.

Once we know the purpose of the survey, the next question is how much information you already have on the property. Has it been recently surveyed? Do you have an old survey? The more information we can get on the property, the easier (and cheaper!) it is to prepare a new plan. Since we’ve been in business since 1953, we have thousands of old records in our files which will help a lot.

Once we know what you need and what information we already have, we can send a proposal and get started!
